| | | Welcome |
| | The
Cincinnati East SAY website has important information for Area administrators,
District representatives, referees, coaches, parents and players. Here, you will
find contacts, schedules, calendars and field directions, various guides, rules,
duties and forms, and links to SAY Soccer's national website, and other related
websites. Cincinnati East SAY updates this website before each season to help
everyone have a fun, enjoyable experience. | | |
About Us Cincinnati East SAY is an official Area within Soccer Association
for Youth (SAY), a national organization that promotes player participation, sound
instruction and safe, enjoyable, fair play. Boys and girls of all sizes and skills
participate in this rapidly growing, recreational soccer program. The SAY Rulebook
has detailed laws and procedures on matters such as team formation (blind draws,
no stacking), playing time (all players must play half the game), player eligibility,
team formation, equitable playing time and sportsmanship. Many Districts
in Cincinnati East SAY have been affiliated with SAY Soccer since the 1970s. We
became our own official SAY Area in 1990. Cincinnati East SAY has a spring and
fall season. Our Area fields about 2,100 players in the spring season, and about
3,100 players in the fall. It is an all-volunteer organization supervised by an
Area Board and composed of over 24 Districts (schools and neighborhoods) in eastern
and central Cincinnati (see organizational flow chart below). Each of our Districts
(schools and neighborhoods) is managed by a District Representative who handles
communications, player registrations, coaches and the formation of teams - all
within the laws and procedures of the SAY Rulebook. Click here for a
list of our Districts (and contacts) for the current season.

| | Divisions
and Seasons (Boys and Girls) Cincinnati East SAY is open to boys and girls
of all abilities. Our Divisions are based on a player's age as of July 31 in the
current year, not their grade. The Divisions are: Passers (ages 6-7)
Wings (ages 8-9) Strikers (ages 10-11) Kickers (ages 12-13) Minors
(ages 14-15) and Seniors (ages 16-18) Cincinnati East SAY considers
the Passers (age 6-7) and Wings (age 8-9) as non-competitive Divisions, meaning
we don't keep score or hold post-season tournaments. The Strikers, Kickers, Minors
and Seniors Divisions are considered competitive with a post-season tournament
in the fall. All Divisions emphasize the SAY philosophy of fun, maximum participation
and player development. The spring season runs from about late March
to mid May (8 games). The fall season runs from early September to late October
(10 games). Cincinnati East Say holds a post-season, single elimination tournament
in the fall for the competitive Divisions, Strikers and above. |
| | Volunteers
Cincinnati East SAY is run entirely by volunteers who come from each District
(school/neighborhood). We thank you all. These volunteers include hundreds of
head coaches and assistants, as well as dozens of administrators, schedulers and
coordinators who donate their time to make each season happen. (see Contacts
for volunteer positions and job descriptions). Cincinnati East SAY is
well organized, but parent volunteer turnover is a fact of life as players "graduate."
Please contact your District Representative or a Cincinnati East SAY Area board
member if you would like to help in any capacity.
| | | Referees
Cincinnati East SAY is always looking for teen and adult referees. Please see
the Referee section of this website for information about training clinics. It's
a fun way to earn some funds, get exercise and help guide younger players.
