Cincinnati
East SAY
thanks our coaches and parents for making this volunteer organization
possible.
Cincinnati East SAY embraces the SAY Soccer philosophy. This
is a recreational league that emphasizes fun, maximum player
participation, player development and sportsmanship. That philosophy
is reflected in the SAY Soccer Rulebook, which we invite you
to review on the SAY Soccer national website (saysoccer.org).
These rules (and there are many) are designed to ensure some
fundamentals:
· all players, regardless of their ability, get equal
playing time (at least half the game);
· all teams are formed in a blind draw (no stacking,
no skill based levels, e.g. "A" Team and "B"
Teams);
· sportsmanship is paramount (player control, keep the
score in check, no non-roster players)
· positive conduct is expected by all (hand shakes, no
derogatory comments, etc.)
Please see the Home page for summary information on Cincinnati
East SAY, player eligibility, seasons, age Divisions and links
to national and state SAY websites. The SAY Soccer national
website is also full of great information for coaches and parents.
We are developing additional materials for coaches and parents.

**PLEASE KEEP OUR FIELDS CLEAN -- PICK UP YOUR TRASH**
Nets
One team will bring the nets to start the day. Each team will
put up a net at the first game. Bring twisties and any type
of stakes to secure the nets.
At the end of the day, each team will take down a net and
the team with the asterisk on the schedule (the team that
plays first on the next game day) takes the nets home.
Referee Fees
Each team pays one referee before the start of the game. Please
bring exact change. See Forms section
for current fees.
Teams and Coaches
The teams shall be on one side of the field between the center
line and the penalty box line. Each team on one end. Coaches
may only coach between the center line and their penalty box
line.
The parents will be on the other side of the field. Parents
and spectators are not allowed to sit behind the goal or the
end line. They must stay 18 yards behind the end line during
the game. This rule will be strictly enforced. The coaches
are responsible for the parents behavior at all times during
the game. If a parent is out of line and the referee asks
the coach to deal with the parent, the coach is responsible
to ask the parent to leave if necessary.
**COACHES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PLAYERS AND PARENTS BEHAVIOR.**
Referees
At the passers and wings levels the teams do not keep score
and the Referees are in training. It takes many seasons to
become a good referee. We have a lot of young Referees quit
due to abusive parents and coaches.
** DO NOT CRITICIZE THE REFEREES. DO NOT LET PARENTS CRITICIZE
THE REFEREES.**
At the strikers and above we compete in the Fall. At this
level, we try to place the experienced referees. Still a lot
of them are still kids so let them do their job. Every time
you critique a referee you disrupt their concentration. Refereeing
is a tough task with people yelling criticisms.
**CONTROL YOURSELF AND YOUR PARENTS. REMEMBER THIS GAME IS
FOR THE KIDS TO HAVE FUN.**
Game Cancellation
There are no cancellations after the schedule is released
(except for extenuating circumstances to be approved by league
officials). If a game is "canceled," the team that
canceled is responsible for paying both assigned refs and
staying with the refs if they are youth and watching the nets
to avoid theft during the scheduled time of the game. No make-ups
for spring; in the fall it is a forfeit for the canceling
team.
Cincinnati East Say will not schedule make-up games for the
spring season. In the fall season, the Executive Board determine
if games are considered forfeits for the canceling team, or
to be re-scheduled.
